Palazzo Piccinno

In architectural terms it’s a palazzo, no doubt, but don’t let the word’s associations mislead you as to its size. The century-old Palazzo Piccinno contains a mere four rooms, and is thus just about as intimate as they come. In contrast with many pocket-sized Puglian hotels, it’s no farmhouse — it’s set in the small town of Parabita, a few miles inland from Gallipoli. Not a busy location, by any means, but one that allows a hotel to lean in to its residential aspect, depending on the town’s offerings for everything else, from restaurants to entertainment and cultural experiences. The rooms are exquisite, each one unique, from the “cosy” Terra Rossa to the Oliveto suite, decorated in a tasteful modern style that brings out the contrast with the historical architecture. The lobby lounge makes for an intimate gathering space, its piano bench occasionally occupied by a local musician; by day, the garden swimming pool offers a respite of its own. A house-made breakfast is served daily, and after that the whole of Salento is at your feet. 4 Rooms Style: Modern Design Atmosphere: Quiet
