With a prime perch on a corner of Collins Ave, Delano reprises its role as Miami’s brightest destination. Accommodations, spanning light and airy rooms to coveted poolside bungalows, meet vibrant restaurants and bars, intuitive best-in-class wellness, and two feature pools – all located on a beachfront that is among the area’s very best. 30 years ago, in a shining example of Miami’s famed Art Deco architecture, on a beachfront corner of Collins Ave, Delano opened its doors. Its appeal was undeniable and its following, unmatched. More than a destination, Delano Miami was a dream world that traded traditional 5-star luxury for something far more modern and fresh, but equally grand. Introduced by Ian Schrager with design from Phillippe Starck, it sparked the imagination. A green hedge with a small door in the middle was placed at its entrance in a whimsical nod to Alice in Wonderland, billowing outdoor curtains swept guests inside, a crisp white aesthetic woke the senses and an apple a day, placed lovingly on a bracket for each room, charmed one and all. Some say the pool functioned as Delano Miami’s true lobby – the beating heart of the hotel and a humming social hub, complete with shallow-end seating made for languid, sun-filled days.
