Yema (from Kibera slums in Kenya) and Hawi (a refugee from Ethiopia) met at Dominican College in the Bay Area, California and started the brand with a mission to help others. They now provide scholarships to educate orphaned children back home, in the Kibera slums in Kenya and Addis Ababa Ethiopia. Join them at a special NYFW event to promote their new line at this showcase and reception, celebrating fashion for a cause.
Maalicious was born to provide a platform for women artisans in India and to help rejuvenate traditional arts. A large part of their proceeds go into empowering these skilled women. Designed in NYC, their jewelry is gold plated and handmade. They strive to ensure that our materials are responsibly sourced and some of our earrings are even made of sustainable materials like clay, wood, silk, etc. As a women-only run firm, they stand in solidarity with skilled and marginalized women.
