Take a bus to Santa Teresa and walk down the colorful mosaic steps
Meet at Cine Odeon, right across from the Cinelândia Metro Station. While the tram through the Lapa Arches isn’t running, you can take a bus to Santa Teresa. Walk through the cobblestone streets and see a part of Rio that still reflects its past. Santa Teresa is known for its mix of local culture and art. Many artists live and work in the area, giving it a creative feel. In the evenings, it’s a popular spot for Rio’s bohemian crowd. Visit Ruins Park (Parque das Ruínas) for a view of the city and stop by local galleries run by neighborhood artists. End your walk at the Selarón Steps, a colorful staircase created by Chilean artist Jorge Selarón to celebrate Brazil’s 1994 World Cup win. Santa Teresa offers a different, memorable side of Rio.
