Montserrat: Afternoon Half-Day Trip from Barcelona with Liquor Tasting

Set off from central Barcelona in an air-conditioned coach to the foot of Montserrat! Once you arrive, you’ll ride the cog-wheel train up the mountain and take in incredible views of the mountain’s peculiar morphology. In fact, Montserrat translates to serrated (serrat) mountain (mont) and you’ll soon see why. Your guide will lead the way to the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey, adding insight about the history and architecture of the monastery and revealing the legend of the miraculous apparition of the Madonna and Child in the cave of Santa Cova. Of course, no visit to Montserrat would be complete without visiting the basilica and seeing La Moreneta (The Black Madonna) – a wooden statue which most likely dates back to the 12th century. Alongside the main area, there are also a great number of small churches to visit and trails you can follow.
