Tour a glacier near one of Iceland's well-known volcanoes as part of a small group. Begin in Vík, meet your group, and travel to the glacier in a vehicle equipped for the terrain. Ride across plains of black sand bordered by mountains and ice to reach the glacier's edge. Put on the necessary gear, such as crampons and a helmet. Walk for a distance of about 1 to 2 km across uneven terrain to access the ice cave. Inside, observe formations of dark volcanic ash layered with ice. Listen as the guide explains the glacier and nearby volcanic activity. You can take photographs during this time.
